Awesome piece, Erin! The figure’s sex is a bit androgynous. I don;t know if that’s intentional. I think reevaluating the hair would not only help show the gendermore, but could add some real drama to the piece.

  Hello Muddy Colors! (Is that you, Dan Dos Santos?) Thank you so much for your comments. I’m very glad to see your draw-over, as the solutions I had in mind were similar. I was unsure about introducing other forms with the figure, but after doing some sketches I think it’s the only thing that will show the floating or flying I had in mind for this painting. The model is indeed male, but with long hair. More work is needed to soften or define musculature, and I have to make sure it’s right–this is the first figure I’ve ever rendered this way with paint, so it’s very challenging. I’ll work on it and post an update soon. Many thanks! –Erin
