Hey dude! Really loving your work you have set up here so far! Good variety! And definitely put up a sequence or 2 ! Would love to see it! I really love thisWinter Soldier piece! But im here for a critique! So gotta throw gloves! Nah im kidding youd wreck me! My only 2 cents for real would be the gun barrell trails off panel kinda leading me right down and off the page.. the smoke helps bring it back, a bit.. but maybe if it came back toward him a tiny bit, even really low opacity might help? And i actually love the prominent brachioradialus displayed like hes got a colossus arm instead of mechanical! I think it lends more character 😉 great stuff bro!! Keep them coming!
Hi Stephen,
This is a very cool illustration. I love the high contrast you’ve used to highlight his mechanical arm and smoking gun.
I’m no expert, but I was to offer any feedback would be that:
A) I find the light source a bit confusing. There’s a shaft of light in the background and there’s another shaft coming down on his arm and gun. Or are they the same shaft, because the two seem to meld together across his torso. May be if a clearer distinction is made between the two, the image will read more simply, adding depth to the space in which he stands.
B) I think anyone successfully depicting metal with paper and ink are doing some akin to magic. Its a tricky one to master and I’ve yet to do so myself. I think Jim Lee inked by Scott Williams is very good at it. Adi Granov being another.
Just my two pence.
Best of luck on your journey.
Jinya
